GRADING
REQUIREMENTS AS PER JUDO FEDERATION OF AUSTRALIA (JFA) GRADING MANUAL
New grading procedures
The state judo body - Judo Federation of
Australia (JFA) ACT made a decision at its February 07 meeting to align
ACT grading procedures to JFA requirements. In a practical sense it
means that I will need to issue all graded players with the official
JFA certificate. Only registered JFA players are to be issued with the
certificates.
From now on, all players competing in sanctioned JFA
(and JFA.ACT) tournaments held in the ACT will have to present their
Registration Books at the weigh-in for current registration and grading
verification. I will be providing a copy of the Registrar's Report to
the organising committee at these tournaments for confirmation purposes.
The certificates are to be purchased from the JFA and
to cover costs I will need to charge $10 for each certificate from next
grading - early April.
For your info I attached below the paragraph in relation
to this issue from the February 07 JFA ACT meeting minutes.
'Secretary to send a letter to all ACT club presidents
stating that all players that are graded must go through the JFA ACT
as this is a JFA Inc requirement. Without a JFA certificate they are
not considered graded. Players without the correct certificate may be
stopped from competing in any competition with a minimum grade requirement.
If it comes to the JFA ACT's attention that grading without a JFA grading
certificate continues to take place then JFA Inc may be forced to remove
your authority to grade.'

It must be remembered that an increase knowledge of the
theory of Judo, Japanese terminology and increase ability in breakfalls
is required the higher the grading you are attempting. It is also preferable
that the order of throws follows the order set down in the Go
Kyo.
